    How to Engage with Me

    I receive a tremendous amount of inbound communication. I really try to answer it all……eventually. If you are a founder or VC in the supply chain space I’ll almost always make time for you. If you are in my network you know how to reach me.

    To make things go faster – for you and me – leverage the following:

    Email

    • The best place to reach me is email. I check it at a minimum daily / 365. 
    • If you are selling me something…….I’ll consider it and if it’s a fit for me or anyone in my network I’ll engage with you. If you don’t hear back then it’s not a fit …….it’s nothing personal, keep grinding!

    Linkedin / X / Bluesky

    • I feel like you are either a LinkedIn person or an X person. I’m a LinkedIn person. You can find me here: Will Urban LinkedIn. I frequently post on LinkedIn and read all the messages sent to me there. But again, the best way to reach me quickly is email. 
    • X – I have an account. I try to make an effort to dual post on LinkedIn and X. I’m not very consistent. You can find me here on X but all the action is on LinkedIn.
    • Bluesky. I feel that someday everyone might migrate here. I have an account. Nothing there yet but if you feel compelled to connect on Bluesky you can do it here.

    • I’m on all of them. If we engage I’ll let you know how you can reach me there. If you manage to get my number and you are not in my network I will not respond to you. Start with email.

    Meetings

    • After spending a lifetime in meetings I’m VERY hard to corner into a meeting. I save that space for current engagements in my network. If you are in my network then you have a link to my calendar. If you manage to obtain that link and schedule something I won’t show up. Start with email.

    What I Do

    I’m often asked “What do you do” or “how do you spend your time nowadays.” All the details can be found here but it’s often helpful to take this short read to understand how I can best serve you. Also, if you google “Will Urban” you will find a number of articles, podcasts, interviews, etc I have done over the years which will help give a sense about my background. In any case, thanks for your time and I’m looking forward to engaging with you and your team!

    WILL URBAN CONSULTING (WUC):

    When I left Flexport I was inundated by requests for help from companies on how to scale their businesses. I realized there was an incredible niche available to serve as there were not many in the industry that had executive level experience with both traditional (Expeditors) and digitized (Flexport) multi-billion dollar logistics companies. I decided to build a consultancy. I have a globally based team of experts who focus on advising execs in their go to market plans, revenue growth, business operations and building sustainable sales teams. It’s the same tactics and strategy I used to lead Flexport’s organic revenue growth from $ 600 million to over $5 billion during my tenure. Much of my team worked with me at Flexport and / or Expeditors. We are go to market experts in and around the supply chain but also in scaling global go to market programs that would benefit any company.

    Almost everyone we engage with realizes significant ROI in the first few months. We only charge month-to-month, no long term contract, with no risk to our clients so it’s extremely easy to engage with us.

    We also help companies raise funds (Venture, PE, private family / investor, etc) as I’m very connected in the venture world, in particular with investors who understand supply chain. It’s often very difficult to translate the value of your company to investors who are not deeply familiar with the supply chain. We close that gap and have been very successful in helping supply chain startups raise funds.

    MY NETWORK:

    One of the major benefits of working together is leveraging my deep global network of executive leaders in the supply chain including shippers, importers, forwarders, carriers, suppliers, and investors. Working with WUC provides access to this network I have built over the last 30+ years.

    INVESTING:

    My family office has been actively investing in companies that are directly in or adjacent to the supply chain or facilitate go to market activities, for years now. Some examples are Moddule, Revenue Vessel, Flexbase, Fullcast , Roadsync, Tau and Apty. We are also LPs with VC Firms Numundo, Kleiner Perkins, R7, and Companyon.

    I’m a venture partner at R7, Companyon, Nine Realms, Outline and an advisor to TMV and Up Partners. I’m also very close to and invest alongside Argon, Supply Chain Ventures and Signal all whose portfolios are heavy into either supply chain or supporting companies who facilitate go to market functions.

    Supply Chain Advisor & Investor

    I built Will Urban around the idea of combining deep operational experience with investing and advisory across the supply chain ecosystem. I bring together decades of experience from both traditional logistics and modern, tech-enabled platforms to support founders and leadership teams.

    Today, Will Urban operates across a family office, a consultancy, and venture partnerships—investing in early-stage companies while helping them scale through go-to-market strategy, revenue growth, and fundraising. I also serve as a board member and advisor to a select group of companies shaping the future of supply chain.

    I work directly with founders, operators, and investors, without layers or unnecessary process—just focused collaboration. My role is to bring capital, experience, and a global network built over 30+ years to help great companies grow faster and more effectively.
